Get Involved

Working Bee information

Each week our gardeners gather to tend to the community garden, establish new plantings, harvest existing crops, and enjoy each others' company.

Working Bees are held every Sunday morning from 7am to 9am at the corner of Waratah Avenue and Cordalba St, Graceville (Google Map).

Gardening tools and some light refreshments are provided, but we request that volunteers bring along:

  • Gardening gloves
  • Any preferred gardening equipment of your own (e.g. your own secateurs)
  • Sun and weather protection (hat, sunscreen, long sleeved shirt, pants, waterproof jacket).
  • Water and a snack – or a plate of food to share!

All gardeners are required to sign in and out each week. Children are welcome to come along and help out, as well, but must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Fundraising / Donations

The GCG regularly undertakes fundraising activities – such as sausage sizzles, on-site information sessions, and other events – and also welcomes donations of equipment, materials and money. If you would like to become involved in fundraising activities or donate to the garden, please contact us.

Membership of the garden is one way of getting involved and supporting the GCG. Membership is $10 per year for an individual or family ($5 per year concession), and assists the garden group to purchase materials and equipment and supply refreshments at the weekly working bees.

Membership fees are due annually on 1 July
